2005 Lamborghini Gallardo SE

With its 5-litre V10 engine that delivers over 520 bhp and its high-tech space frame and aluminium bodyshell, the Gallardo SE is a fully-fledged performance limited edition of the modern classic. A numbered series of 250 units over the standard model, this Bicolore Grigio Proteus with Nero Octis roof is the 31st car in the series, a sought-after low numeral of the production run with the oh-so-important, crisp gated manual transmission.

It has taken some time for the Gallardo SE to be as coveted by collectors as its older siblings, the earlier Diablo SE30 or the Murciélago 40th anniversary model when juxtaposed against their production equivalents. However, enthusiasts close to the Gallardo project have always known that the sweet spot in its run can be found here and is now garnering considerable attention from a wider collector clientele.

The relative scarcity of the manual transmission too, has collectors salivating. It's no secret that limited editions or the first and last of anything are the most desirable examples, so it is perhaps predictable that demand for the limited run, last, and arguably the best, of the manual transmission cars would start to soar.

The Gallardo was a masterpiece of contemporary design by Italdesign with its short front and teardrop-shaped windscreen pushed forward being a now-iconic piece of Lamborghini architecture. In the SE guise, dark titanium ‘Callisto’ wheels, black exterior mirrors and a glass engine cover distinguish it from the production model.

This Gallardo SE boasts a two-tone interior with seat centres, piping and stitching in Grigio to marry the cabin with the exterior.
