2020 McLaren 720S Spider Performance

The robustness of the 'Monocage II-S' means the ability to switch from coupé to convertible can be realised without sacrificing rigidity and adding minimal weight, therefore McLaren circumvents the shortfalls that have predominantly made convertibles slower, heavier and dynamically compromised.

This Silica White 720S Spider boasts a retractable one-piece hard-top, but, even with this, all of the structural integrity has been retained. The absence of a fixed roof also means a brand new carbon-fibre rollover protection system bonded to the chassis that is 6.8kg lighter than the previous Spider's steel iteration.

Key components, such as the 710bhp, twin-turbocharged, 4.0-litre V8 and the advanced hydraulic Proactive Chassis Control suspension set-up are identical to the coupé, with the siblings sharing a 0-62mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200mph – this Spider can hit 202mph even with its roof down.
