The Lamborghini Huracán STO (Super Trofeo Omologata) is the Huracán in its out-and-out nimblest and liveliest form – a self-proclaimed ‘Celebration of the Combustion Engine’. Taking inspiration from the one-make racing series – the Super Trofeo – and aerodynamic and weight-saving elements from the GT3, the STO is the hardcore road-legal package akin to Ferrari’s Pista, Porsche’s GT3 RS or McLaren’s LT models.
Sonorous naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 that powers only the rear wheels
In aerodynamics; Lamborghini gives us ‘the cofango’ a specially designed body component that incorporates the bonnet and front wings and maximises frontal aerodynamic performance while saving weight – louvres to exit hot air from the wheel arches and bonnet vents to extract hot air from the radiators. The aero set-up continues with the shark fin on the rear which is designed to improve yaw stability. Whilst in weight-reduction, thinner glass, lightweight magnesium wheels and extensive use of carbon fibre bodywork save further weight.
There are three new driving modes on the Huracán STO for road use, ‘Trofeo’ for track use and ‘Pioggia’ for rain use. These act on the dampers, traction control and ABS settings, exhaust sound, torque-vectoring and the rear-wheel steering system. In addition, Lamborghini removed the Dynamic Steering system, so the steering ratio is always the same at 13.4:1.
This stealth, delivery mileage Nero Noctis example retains its sonorous naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 that powers only the rear wheels and focuses much more on poise, responsiveness and feel than pure Top Trumps™️ power figures, coupled to its sublime 7-speed DCT ‘box.
