1989 Ferrari Testarossa

The 1984 Paris Motor Show saw the return of the famous Testarossa name to Ferrari. The Pininfarina design broke the mould and was distinctive and innovative and has now become iconic with the side intakes larger than on the previous boxer models and the introduction of the long side strakes that have become the Testarossa’s most distinguishing feature.

The Testarossa remained in production for seven years with relatively few visual alterations and with 7,177 units produced chassis number 53801 to 91923. Early cars had odd alternate chassis numbers in the early Ferrari road car tradition, while later cars such as this 1989 example adopted a continuous chassis number sequence.

The visual alterations that did occur can all be found in this 1989 Testarossa in its signature Rosso Corsa over Tan or “Cuoio” hide.

From the 1987 Geneva Motor Show, the single pillar-mounted mirror was replaced by similarly-styled paired units mounted in the lower front corner units of the door glass.

The standard wheels are a five-spoke alloy design, originally with a single chrome-plated Rudge hub, which was replaced with a five-bolt design in 1988 together with model year changes to the interior trim.

The Testarossa also featured a return to the unequal size front and rear road wheel rim widths with 8J x 16″ front wheels and 10J x 16″ rear wheels, plus a space-saver spare wheel in the front compartment. The wheels covered large, ventilated disc brakes with twin hydraulic circuits, and servo assistance. All round independent suspension was via wishbones, coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers, with twin rear units plus front and rear anti-roll bars.

History

The 12-cylinder Testarossa produces 380bhp and 354ft-lbs of torque, controlled by the 5-speed gated manual box. This car has flown through its most recent MOT - 13/01/22 with no advisories. The most recent full engine-out service to include cam-belts and tensioner change was carried out by Grimaldi Engineering with a total cost of in excess of £4,700. Unfortunately due to a previous garage it was sold at, the history and paperwork were lost during the company's liquidation, and therefore isn't present. However, the car has had its most recent service which was a full engine out and was in impeccable condition and is ready for the new owner to drive and enjoy.

Condition

This Testarossa is a stunning example of the true supercar icon, this particular example has covered just over 40,000 miles and is in pristine condition. This is a right-hand drive, UK delivered car.
