History:

This particular TME GSR is UK car number 172 of 250 and has been meticulously maintained by its previous owners. Although the vehicle is showing 6 owners in total it was originally registered on the 14th of June 2001 to The Colt Car Company (Mitsubishi UK), Cirencester. 4,000 miles and one year later it was then registered with its second owner Millwood Mitsubishi, Dursley. We understand it was owned by an individual who worked for Mitsubishi (hence being registered to both Dealerships) and was in his care for the first four years, taking the total mileage to 44,300. The car was then purchased in 2005 by its third registered owner who was custodian for the following three years and bringing the mileage to approx. 52,000 miles. Mid-2009 the car was purchased by what we understand to be a colleague of the 2nd owner and 5 months later registered once more with Millwood Mitsubishi, Dursley. Finally, in Spring 2010 the car was purchased by its current owner who, using the car sparingly, has only added a further 8,000 miles in their ownership bringing the total mileage to a very low 63,500 miles.

Included is a comprehensive and full service history, owners handbook, radio handbook, fully stamped service book, copies of old V5 and V5C documents, road fund licence reminders / SORN applications and of particular note every MOT certificate from 2004 to 2022. Accompanying is a folder full of various invoices to back up works completed throughout its lifetime and even notes and letters by previous owners.

TME - three letters that, on their own have little meaning but once put together will make any petrolhead smile. For those three letters spell out one of the most sought-after and celebrated road-going rally cars ever produced; Tommi Makinen Edition.

The Mitusbishi Lancer Evo VI TME was introduced as an ode to its namesake winning his 4th consecutive World Rally Championship. Don't think it was a marketing gimmick however; the TME has come to be known as 'The Evo 6.5' and really meant business.  Based upon the Evo VI, the TME featured a turbocharger with a titanium compressor wheel to improve response and boosting a full 250rpm sooner. The steering rack was swapped to a closer ration unit; the suspension lowered and tuned alongside a new lower strut brace. The fuel tank was baffled to counter fuel surge at high cornering loads and the front bumper spotlights were lost for air intakes. the wheels were 17 inches and mimicked the design of the works rally car while on the inside the Recaro seats were trimmed in red with the Tommi Makinen logo on the backrest and finished with a red stitched Momo steering wheel and gearknob.

Only 250 cars were officially imported by Mitsubishi Ralliart into the UK meaning it would have been professionally SVA’d and supplied with UK service and handbooks, a calibrated speedometer for MPH instead of KPH, an unleaded-spec fuel restrictor, cold-climate battery and alternator, and finally  individually numbered on a plaque in the cabin. These official UK models are highly sought-after and have quickly become hugely collectable.
